1 Purpose:

Prayer is about a relationship, not a transaction. God is not a cosmic vending machine. Communicating your needs, wants and concerns to Him is good, however, it is not a guarantee that He will answer in precisely the way you want. We can’t manipulate God, but we should pray according to His will, pray as worship to Him, and pray for things He cares about.

We pray for one purpose: to join God in honoring His name in every person’s life.

2: A Designated Time—2PM

Of all the objections we might have about actually praying, time is a major factor. Since the goal here is to get started praying and to continue praying consistently then let’s just make it simple – set an alarm at 2 pm and commit that when that alarm goes off you’ll stop what you are doing and give your attention to God. Yes, this may be inconvenient at times but God’s invitation is an interruption after all..

3: Three Specific People

A Spiritual Wanderer

Perhaps not all who wander are lost, but all who are lost are wandering. Pray for someone you know to be far from God, separated from the life of Jesus. They may be someone you care about deeply or they may currently be your enemy (Matthew 5:44). God’s will is to save them from spiritual death and aimless wandering.

A Spiritual Companion

Jesus brings each person He saves into a brand new spiritual family! Pray for someone who is your spiritual companion, a brother or sister in Christ. We all face temptations of all kinds. We are not strong enough to face all of life’s difficulties alone, so God gives us spiritual companions to journey together with.

A Spiritual Leader

From the beginning God has entrusted some of His authority to leaders for the good of creation. Spiritual leadership is God’s idea and spiritual leaders are fruitless without God’s help. Pray for someone you consider a spiritual leader in your life.
