Local Ministries
Youth for Christ: Highlands County- YFC is a movement that reaches young people everywhere with the hope of Christ. We work with the local church and other like-minded partners to raise up lifelong followers of Jesus who lead by their godliness in lifestyle, devotion to the Word of God and prayer, passion for sharing the love of Christ, and commitment to social involvement. Great Commission Bible Institute- GCBI is a ten-month discipleship program located in Central Florida geared towards young adults and designed to create a solid understanding of God’s Word along with a broad experience in discipleship and ministry. Through biblical studies courses and involvement in ministry with the local church, GCBI prepares men and women for the next step- be it vocational ministry, furthering their education, or entering the work force or mission field. International Missions
Annalise Harstine
I work as a Bible Translator on three language projects in Mainland Southeast and South Asia. I work closely on Old and New Testament translations of minority and/or unreached languages. I prepare, edit, and revise these translations verse by verse, working closely with the text and mother-tongue speakers from the first draft all the way to publication. Ultimately, I am a resource and helpmate to solve various exegetical problems throughout the translation process. I empower local people to produce the very first Bible in their language through providing theological and exegetical insight and expertise. The work we do is an expression of Priscilla and Aquila in our age and sphere of influence. For the past seventeen years, we have labored together for the flourishing of God’s kingdom among the Miskito communities on the lower Coco River in Nicaragua.
The nature of our engagement has evolved over the years as we’ve raised up native leaders and locked arms with new partners to accomplish these ends. God has given us a privileged position. We have become a bridge connecting numerous partners to our Miskito communities and to each other for disseminating the gospel. Like Priscilla and Aquila, we host them our house, support and encourage Young Life ministry in Nicaragua (Vida Joven) as well as Bridge to Grace (Slavic District Assemblies of God) missionaries, while actively mentoring many native leaders and expat volunteers with whom we labor.
With Jesus-style disciple-making, that is, living and working alongside others, we bring our language, creative, and worship gifts into the mix, rendering and teaching new worship songs in Miskito, teaching the Bible, creating skits for young people to perform, co-producing videos of the Book of Psalms with scripture and audio in a more accurate and modern Miskito translation.
